This Privacy Policy explains how Dash ("we," "us," or "our"), operating as Dash POS, collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use the Dash POS app ("the App") available on the Shopify App Store.
We are based in Nova Scotia, Canada, and are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
2. Information We Collect
Store and Merchant Information: When you install Dash POS, we access basic Shopify store information necessary to operate the App, including your store name, store domain, and timezone. This information is provided by Shopify as part of the app installation process.
Product and Order Data: The App reads product information from your Shopify store to display items and modifier options within the POS interface. When a merchant or staff member adds modified items to an order, the App creates custom line items with modifier details (such as selected size, add-ons, and quantities) as attributes on the Shopify order.
Modifier and Analytics Data: Because Shopify does not natively track product modifiers, Dash POS maintains its own records of modifier configurations and usage analytics to help you understand which modifiers are popular and how they affect your sales.
Usage Data: We may collect information about how you interact with the App, including feature usage and session data, to help us improve performance and develop new features.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
• Provide and maintain the App's core features (product modifiers and KDS) • Generate modifier analytics and reporting for your store • Process your subscription and maintain your account • Improve the App's functionality and develop new features • Provide customer support • Ensure security and prevent fraud • Comply with legal obligations
4. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, limited access on a need-to-know basis, and secure hosting infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to third parties, except:
• With Shopify, as necessary for the App to function within the Shopify platform • With service providers who assist in operating our infrastructure, under strict confidentiality obligations • As required by applicable law or legal process
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as the App is installed on your store. If you uninstall the App, we will delete your data within 48 hours, unless we are required by law to retain it longer.
Our App implements Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks:
• customers/data_request: We compile and provide all stored information upon request. • customers/redact: We remove any associated information within 30 days. • shop/redact: We automatically delete all store data within 48 hours of uninstall.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, or port your information, as well as the right to object to processing and withdraw consent. California residents may also request disclosure of the information we have collected and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

GDPR: For users in the EEA, we process data based on performance of a contract, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and your consent where applicable.
Cookies: The App and KDS web interface may use cookies for session management. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
Third-Party Services: Dash POS integrates with Shopify and may use third-party services for hosting. These services have their own privacy policies.
Data Transfers: Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Children: Dash POS is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
